Christmas came early this year. I got my BladeRunner Blue Ray 5-disc Complete Collector's Edition! Man is it NICE!!! Ok, here's what you get... First off the brief case is kind of small, 12" x 8 1/2" x 2 1/2, gray toy plastic. The latches are kind of cool!

Inside you will find all the goodies. The bottom of the case contain the BR DVD box set, the Speeder (not too bad looking). The doors of the Speeder open up like in the movie and the rear wheels move, and the Unicorn (Made of silver painted plastic NOT paper!) The horn is too short but not a bad try at a replica. All are set in molded black foam. Between the top and bottom of the case is a clear plastic divider with a letter from Ridley Scott printed on it. Also, next to the letter is a drawing of Deckerd, (I assume), standing in a room.

The top of the case contains the lenticular motion image of Deckerd (Very NICE, and suprisingly heavy) Behind the lenticular is a black folder which contain art prints of conceptual art by Syd Mead and some storyboard art.

The Blue Ray Discs: To my suprise two of the Discs are normal DVD format. Disk 2 "Dangerous Days: Making Blade Runner" and Disk 4 "Enhancement Archive" I don't know why this is but I thought when I was getting the Blue Ray set, ALL the disks would be HD quality? So, FYI.

Haven't had a chance to watch anything yet but I thought I would give you my first impressions. I'll update you after I view the discs.

Have a better one,

Only the movies were encoded in HD. The other discs were not, although they had excellent compression.

Welcome to BladeZone.

Blu-Ray Disc 5 "Workprint"

Hello, Kenny. I was wondering if the Blu-Ray version of Disc 5 has that annoying video banding defect throughout the Workprint? I own the standard definition of the Collector's BR set and its Disc 5 has this defect.

Every single copy of the workprint that is on those DVDs has it. Its a flaw on the film print itself.

I'm not familiar with video transfer jargon, could someone please explain this "banding effect" on the WP?

I just have a Sony Trinitron 27'' monitor and I see this horizontal and stationary ghost-like band in the top one-third and the bottom one-third of the frame all throughout this workprint presentation.

Here's a shot of it (at least, this is what I was told was banding when I described it in another thread):

Here's a shot I brightened to make it a bit easier to see:

Ah ok, thanks for the clarification.
