I have come to a point where I watch it not so frequently, just to warm up my desire to watch it, and then enjoy it much more when I finally do it.

...hmmm, I think I'm around the 28 times.

Well, I started in 1982 at the cinema. A few years later bought the video (which I pretty much wore out.) A few years ago I bought the DVD, (like many seem to, I bought it before I got a DVD player.) Since then I have it as the default disc in my laptop and often put it on at night when working on my desktop PC. And occasionally it gets to visit the big TV. Oh and I also saw it again at the cinema last year.

I think I lost count ten years ago ... maybe I've seen it about 37 billion times?
Difficult to say, but realistically I'd estimate:

Theatrical version on VHS - less than 10 times
Director's cut on DVD - less than 20 times
Director's cut at cinema - 2 times

When I created the movie image library for Bladezone I spent HOURS and HOURS stepping through the DVD frame-by-frame looking for the best shots from each scene - when I'd finished, I had 800+ grabs - I then had to sort through and reduce this to 360 - I think that process has decreased my desire to watch the movie on a more regular basis...

Whoof, that'd be a guess. I imagine around 60 - 100.

original version VHS/tv: about 10 times
Director's Cut VHS: between ten and 20 times
DC on the silver screen: once last November, it was a religious experience

Last week I bought the DC on DVD and VHS, cause I only had the original version, taped from tv. I don't even have a DVD player yet, and honestly I don't see myself buying one in the near future, maybe this fall or something
Forgot to mention that the region 2 DVD also has French and Italian soundtracks - I have watched the film once in both those languages too - don't speak a word of either language, but you don't need to when you know a movie so well. They did a fantastic dubbing job and re-recorded all the background dialogue sounds (such as the blimp) into both languages - I particularly liked the French voice given to Rachael

I might post a short mp3 of some of the French dialogue if anyone wants to hear Rachael's French voice...

_________________

Richard Gunn
News and Content Manager for Bladezone
richardg@bladezone.com

[ This Message was edited by: Deckard BR26354 on 2002-01-30 17:04 ]
