If "Blade Runner - Remastered Directer's Cut" is coming out in about 60 days should there not be one site on the net that would have info about it or have it as a pre-order like Amazon does with coming soon titles?
Froogle has nothing. Google only links to announcments that it will be released in September.
Is that all that is known by anyone?
For sure someone like Amazon would have a pre-order with info.
I would like to know about the audio formats that will be used.
If WB wants to sell this I think they need to get the info out to sellers. I mean if it's only 2 months away from release, one would think...
Amazon had pre-order for "Pink Floyd's Pulse" for a year or so before releasing this week 7/11/6.

Give it time. I'm sure we'll see sometihng soon. From what I've seen, a few UK sites have it at least listed. My guess is, that within a month, we'll be getting more info on it and be able to preorder it.

a bit off topic:
Is that Pink Floyd "Pulse" dvd really coming out tomorrow?
It's been delayed a couple times.

Yes, the UK Amazon has it listed but that's it. No details.
For instance, will the audio format be DD5.1 or DTS5.1 or both, etc.
I guess the pre-order hype is just not there like say the "Pulse" DVD.
I do hope that Warner spends some money to market it.
Electric Sheep, yes delayed several times - kind of like Blade Runner.
But my order shipped Monday, 7/10/06 so I guess it's for real this time.

strange, ive have my pink floyd pulse DVD for years and years now ???
perhaps it was only released in the UK? a small box with a flashing LED on the side. i had recorded it from the BBC channel and then watched the DVD. not a great deal of difference (a few shots faded to other shots either quicker or slower etc.) but the sound obviously was great.
amazon have been advertising the new pressing of BR-DC for some time now, i got posted the link to the disc a good month ago now..

Hi nails, I got the CD when it was released several years back and got the limited edition with the red led flashing light too.
But I dont think there was ever an official DVD release. The UK version appears to be a copy of the broadcast or a bootleg version of the Laser Disc.
The first Official release is this one with 2 discs and several added material and extra live versions of songs no doubt from other nights. It's really an amazing collection for only $16 dollars and some change.
Amazon US has the complete details of it.
I will say once again that the DVD Blade Runner may have been posted on AmazonUK for awhile but it has no info or detail about it's contents and formats.
That was what I was looking for using google and searching BR forums and sites. It seems like no one has these details.
I am hoping that Warner Bros. just doesnt wait and quitely release it without any pre-release hype.
I think people other than BR fans might get interested and buy it if the marketing is done right.
I guess I'm just hoping for a big demand and lots of sales. It would make me happy and I'm sure R.Scott too.
But it will depend on Warner Bros. Marketing can make or break sales.
Anyway, thanks guys for the input and info.
Maybe next month this time all this info will be available and the pre-orders starting. I know so many fans that do not even know about the re-release Dir Cut in September or for that fact , "The Final Cut" nect year.

carson

I would guess since the way things are goin it probely won't come out tell october. I think september was just rough date. I was hoping to hear some reports from comic con since they were having a DVD Sneak Peek 2006 panel, but no luck. no sites have said anything about it, so I guess it wasn't even showed at comic com either. If it was at comic con ever site might have info on it right now, but they don't.

From The Digital Bits:
Speaking of Warner, the studio has officially announced the re-release of Blade Runner: The Director's Cut on 9/12 (SRP $19.97). This is a single-disc release (dual-layered), with no new extras, but you'll be pleased to know that the video has been completely remastered with a brand new anamorphic widescreen film transfer. The audio will be Dolby 2.0 Surround, like the original release. Keep in mind that a much more elaborate multi-disc Blade Runner: Ultimate Edition is currently in production for release sometime in 2007 - that is CONFIRMED. This disc is really just designed to update the original Snapper case release (one of Warner's first EVER releases on DVD back in 1997) with better video in the meantime.

Hey, Piper. Someone on IMDB posted that on the BR forum....have you seen the bitching that has ensued?
Thank God for this place.

deleted,
hey got a link? (out of curiosity) I'm not able to find anything at IMDB for some reason. (?)
PiperKev.
Thanks for the info. I can only say I hope the source is so wrong.
Remastered video but in only DD 2.0 audio?
In this day and time that will be a deal killer for me and many more I'm sure.
Dont we already have a DC with stereo sound...
Hard to believe Warner Bros. would make that mistake. DD2.0 is like the few TV station still broadcasting in mono.
The reason I feel this is just wrong is the soundtrack is so important to the film in this case. I cant imagine the movie w/o Vangelis' music weaving in and out as part of the whole. To have the capability to remaster the film and forget about the audio is just, well, wrong.
If true, I wait for the final cut edition and hope they join the 21st century with multi-channel sound, jeez....

carson

I think this was the thread:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083658/board/nest/49316535
Admitedly, it's not the greatest complaining ever, but I still think reactions here would be very different, more in BR's favor.

Ah...thanks. I was looking for the remastered version thread. Didnt think to look at the original release for info.
From my post above I'm probably leaning that way also.
Even though it should be a much better pic quality I am disappointed in no 5.1 audio also.
But will I buy it...oh yes, as soon as Amazon puts up a pre-order for it.
It should be worth it till "The Final Cut" is released.
I've waited sooo long to hear Vangelis and the film itself in multi-channel sound it is a let down to now read this release will still be stereo (DD2.0).
Now I wonder if any of the remastering process included the audio.
Anyway, thanks for the link, deleted... and all the info everyone.

carson
