Timeline

After seeing the timeline here on the site, I decided that I wanted to make a more comprehensive chronology using various sources (movie cuts, comic, scripts, Jeter's novels, Dick's novel). So here's what I have so far, based on all my research. If anyone discovers any dates that should be added in, please say so along with the source from which you found it. This is far from done, so any help is appreciated.

1970?s- Early androids are created. (source: Dick novel)

1994- J.F. Sebastian is born. (source: movie)

Early 21st Century- Tyrell creates the Nexus series of replicant androids. (source: movie)

2003- Sarah Tyrell is born. (source: Jeter novels; comic)

2016 (?)- A rogue combat team of Nexus 6 replicants mutiny. Any and all replicants are declared illegal on earth. Blade Runner unit is created for hunting down any violators. (source: conjecture based on the dictionary definition in the workprint)

Jan. 8, 2016- Incept date of Roy Batty. (source: movie)

Feb. 14, 2016- Incept date of Pris. (source: movie)

June 12, 2016- Incept date of Zhora. (source: movie)

April 17, 2017- Incept date of Leon. (source: movie)

2018- The Sudermann Corporation releases the T-14 android model. Over 50 manage to escape to earth. The Pavlov Institute in the Soviet Union develops the Voight Empathy Scale to identify. (source: Dick novel) Later that year, research brings about the more effective Voight-Kampff Empathy Scale. (note: based on conjecture, as Deckard appears to already know how to perform the V-K test by 2019)

Nov. 2019- Six replicants highjack a shuttle to earth. Nexus 6 replicants become common knowledge in RepDetect. Rick Deckard is forced back into work as a Blade Runner. cant remember where it was, but deckard was said to be 33 or so years old, so you can add that to his "birth date" by doing the math.

Interesting thing. Funny though, the moment I saw "Timeline" in the index, I thought it's about movie events timeline. I tried to do a movie events timeline few years ago and presented it at br-insight.com forums.

Here is what I wrote back then:

As I have promised in the other thread, here I am posting the timeline of the movie events.
It's based on the draft of the script from February 1981, by Hampton Fancher and David Webb Peoples. This version is considered for being the final shooting script, but even so you can find many differencies between its content and the final movie. Some events happen in different order/time in the script and in the movie. Some events from the script were not shooted/used at all. |:o

I have found the script at www.script-o-rama.com five years ago. I don't know if it's still there, but it's definitely worth the try. Now go there. I order you! :F

Here we go:

DUSK - The movie begins. Holdens VKs Leon inside the Tyrell Corp. building.

NIGHT - Deckard waits in the Chinatown for a free seat in the noodle bar. Meets Gaff. They fly together in the spinner to the police HQ. Meeting with Bryant in his office.

DAY - Deckard and Bryant are watching the description of the escaped replicants on the video.

NIGHT - Deckard visits injured Holden in the hospital.

MORNING - Gaff and Deckard fly in spinner to visit Tyrell's. Deckard meets Rachael and Tyrell.

NIGHT - Deckard and Gaff inspect the hotel room where the replicants lived. Batty and Leon go visit Chew in his laboratory. Deckard goes home by a groundcar, meets Rachael in the elevator. Pris meets Sebastian outside the Bradbury Building. Deckard inspects the photograph with Esper. Goes to the streets with the snake scale and the enhanced photo of Zhora. Meets Ben Hasan, Taffey Lewis. Fight with Salome/Zhora. Confrontation with Leon.
Meeting with Bryant. With Rachael in his appartment.

DAWN - Sebastian and Pris meet Batty at Bradbury's.

MORNING - At Deckard's appartment, he and Rachael have a small conversation, more indications of possible sex they had.

NIGHT - Pris and Batty try to convince Sebastian to take them to see Tyrell.

DAY - Deckard visits Holden at hospital again. Deckard calls Dr. Schlecht from his car and demands Sebastians personal details from him, then calls Sebastian, but Pris picks up.

SUNSET, NIGHT - Sebastian and Batty go see Tyrell. Later, Batty kills them both.
Deckard goes to Bradbury building. Fight with Pris. Final confrontation with Batty.

DAWN - Deckard meets Gaff at the roof.

DAY - Deckard goes home, escapes with Rachael. The happy "green" ending.


So, the result is, that according to this version of the script all the events shown in the movie took almost 5 NIGHTS and 5 DAYS. Most of the events have occured during thethird night.

I have the feeling that the timeline was much more simplified and "compressed" in the movie. Although... there is a big problem with keeping the time track while watching it because of the constant "noir" atmosphere.

And yes, I need a rest now. :zzz

2006- After an aborted mission, the Salander 3 returns to earth. Its only survivor is Sarah Tyrell. (source: Jeter novels)

It can sometimes feel like no-one listening on here - people come and go and then come back again.

The sites in a bit of a turmoil at the moment - the forum is running slow and the topics have dried up. But if you keep posting stuff, people will reply eventually.

I think many of us here feel a little burned out when it comes to BR topics. I personally feel like I?ve said everything I?ve had to say, but I still check the boards about everyday from work and plan on sticking around for as long as this site exists. It will take something major, like the BR dvd release, to breath some life back into this place.

And by the way, Kaneda, I enjoyed very much your Timeline!

Can anyone verify this? I need a source to cite, preferably with title, page number, and statement of said fact (I'm not asking for much, am I?).

I'm halfway through Replicant Night and I need to purchase Eye and Talon before I can complete this. And I'll probably have to read the books again just to make sure there's no missing or contradictory dates.

Where it was said that Deckard is 33?

I myself believe he was 39-40, just like Harrison Ford in 1982.
He even looks like 40, he would look tooo old for 33.
