What films fit with the Blade Runner "vision"?

That is, what kind of films are out there that you could see easily fitting in with BR in terms of atmosphere, storyline, etc. My picks:

RoboCop (heavily influenced by BR)
-Industrialization and the early stages of robotics and cybernetics easily make this film almost a sort of companion film to BR. Not only that, but it also covers the question of humanity.

Alien, Aliens
-This one's almost a given. Colonies, robotics, and man trying to control nature. And if that doesn't get you, a shady organization with questionable ethics seem to be the cause of all the problems.

There's plenty of others, but I want to hear everyone else's thoughts.

Nothing really hits all the marks for me like blade runner did. I think the biggest factors in relating to BR is the atmosphere and human/replicant issues. BR can be as superficial and as deep as you want to make it. Ya just gotta love this flick. So many "future" movies miss the boat by creating such a refined future. BR's charm and uniqueness was in its used and familar future setting.

What about Lars von Trier's THE ELEMENT OF CRIME?

They don't really "fit," but Shinya Tsukamoto's TETSUO films would probably please anyone who liked BLADE RUNNER. The first one is more out-of-control... There is a sort of man-machine theme in them, but not quite of the BR or Phildickian sort...

Did someone mention BRAZIL yet? Somehow the two films are indelibly linked in my head... perhaps just a coincidence of the time of their release, since they're dissimilar.

I just finished watching this film. Story was fragmented, not cohesive enough for me, but touched on human, mutant, alien, god prejudices among one another. It definitely had a BR cityscape/atomosphere. I liked it from that vantage point, but it must be a european thing...I couldn't connect to it.

Any one see this one and have an opinion on it?

Ya know, a film I always thought visually was like a prequel to BR was BLACK RAIN. It's not even close thematically or the inherant cheese factor - buddy cop 80's flick stuff. But the film, visually, certainly has a touch of blade runner. I'm sure Ridley Scott decided that going in.

The 80's film Mishima- A Life in Four Chapters, These are my 2 favorite films. The replicants "dying at the peak of their beauty". The argument that if the body, the human body be considered a canvas or work of art, cannot be preserved forever.

Casablanca
Not a science fiction film, but it works in a lot of ways like Blade Runner, only in reverse. The movie develops with Rick becoming more human, and that he and Victor share common goals. I feel Deckard in Blade Runner become less human as the movie progresses and also realizes he isn't as diffferent from those he's opposed to as he thought.

Batman Begins
Is it just me or does downtown Gotham look a helluva like future LA? The train touring the ciy could be modeled after the spinner tour in the beginning of Blade Runner. The main hero of the film seems to rise up against his former master in a similar way the replicants did with Tyrell.
Even the new batmobile looks like a spinner (just a playful observation). Both movies are very dark as well.

From what I've read 'round the net, this was no accident. Reportedly, director Christopher Nolan had a screening of Blade Runner for the Batman Begins crew.

If you look at aspects of the Arkham Asylum lobby scenes, you'll see stylistic similarities with the Bradbury Apartments interiors of Blade Runner. Also, when Batman drops his grappling hook gun, you'll see that not only does it resemble a Blade Runner blaster, but the shot looks almost identical to the shot of Deckard's blaster landing on the floor after being dropped during his climb.

I thought Nolan was truly paying homage to Blade Runner, rather than simply ripping it off like so many other films.

I like that film a lot. Alpha's voice is something that meakes me uneasy, a sound that you can't easily forget .

Indeed, I found that off IMDb quite some time ago. Great to see an action film other than science fiction pay tribute to the movie.
