After the lady identifies the scale to be of snake origin, she suggests Deckard should talk to Abdul Hassan. He taps on the window and Hassan waves him in. As we watch them converse through the window, is it me, or is this the worst editing job in BR? Mouths are moving with no dialogue, words are spoken with no lips moving, one man is speaking while the other man's mouth moves...It's very brief but if you've seen the film as many times as I, it's hard to believe The Great Ridley Scott was satisfied slapping some dialogue with some film footage like this. I'm pretty sure every version is the same, too.
Don't get me wrong...It doesn't really take away from the film but, with today's technology, R.S. should tidy-up a bit for the Special Edition. Thanx-just had to get that off of my chest.

_________________
~GeNe~

[ This Message was edited by: Gene Ettix on 2001-12-03 01:16 ]

Buy 'Blade Runner : Future Noir' by Paul Sammon, it explains why this is and, if I remember correctly, tells you what the original dialogue was...

_________________

Richard Gunn
News and Content Manager for Bladezone
richardg@bladezone.com

[ This Message was edited by: Deckard BR26354 on 2001-12-03 07:47 ]

There are several instances of "lip-flap" in the movie. Abdul and Deckard is particularly bad because you actually end up with the voice of one when the other is clearly speaking.

As mentioned, this is detailed in FN, with original dialogue. It was dubbed in after the Workprint version, which has the original dialogue. Producer interference again. The new dialogue was supposed to be more explanatory, but I don't think it is even that, so a bit of a botch all round and hopefully something to be fixed in the SE.

In the WP, Abdul says he made the snake and after prevaricating, tells Deckard "Snake Pit!" Which was followed by external shot of Deckard outside said bar. So, Taffey Lewis wasn't mentioned, but really, was that confusing? I think not.
