hey guys its been a long long time, so i thought id pop back in and fill you in on a lil adventure im planning: several people have been to LA to photograph the locations of the movie but has anyone done the locations from the PKD book?

not bloody likely, hence my quest ive read thorugh the book and marked out all the aprox. locations i could find, i plan on going down there for new years and going on a photographic journey inbetween then. wont be as easy with out a souped up hover car but i think i'll make do and i know some of the places might not exaclty exist yet but i'll take pics of buildings that might some day become them

my plane leaves dec. 29th i'll get back the 1st of jan and report back then

I voted the Opera House. Although I'd want to see the museum myself. That is where they (Resch and Deckard) found Luba Luft. What museum do you think it was? Does it actually exist? I'm glad that the book is getting some attention.

in the book it says they walk to the museum from the opera house and my map says theres a asian at museum within walking distance from there along with several other civic centers so we'll see.

def. take a minidv camera and record as much video as possible for us. minidv tapes are cheap. batteries are the problem.

then just capture and edit on the computer. make us a nice documentary, rivaling "on the edge of blade runner" ;D

ive never actually seen "on the edge..." but i'll try my best

now this is an ambitious undertaking!
having recently done the LA BR Tour myself, i was only left thinking what i might do next...this would be it.
please do tell of the details!

well guys im back, and what a trip it was:

my second day there i went out on the tour, unfortunatly my guide wasn't really in the best of moods that day so any stops made were quite brief i did take my video camera along and hopefully got something decent we mostly drove past the landmarks the St. Francis was the first one we drove past almost by accident then i think we went to the Opera house and on a note there are several art type museums around there so i just kinda got as much as i could before we hurried along we drove through Van Ness and i couldnt find a building that really matched anything like a pet hospital as well as sutter st. and it looks like i didnt make it to lombard and mission but i did get the hall of justice on 7th and Bryant which was cool.

that was pretty much it i'll try and edit something quick together and maybe put it up somewhere but we'll see

i would highly recommend a trip to san fran or anywhere in the bay area

ok, ive recently been able to get my hands on a decent editing machine so hopefully i can put the tour together and get it hosted somewhere (any suggestions?)

5gigs is a nice free website, but the bandwidth is limited to like 5gb a month. Rapidshare.de can host your files for a certain time period. Then there's BitTorrent, the best of them all. Learn how to make a torrent, and seed the file until enough users have it that it spreads on its own. Or, if you're on high speed internet, stick it in your shared folder for limewire/kazaa/bearshare or whatever program you use and share it over that. You share it, someone else downloads it, they share it; that makes 2 sources to download from. Then a third comes in, etc...

Limewire is a very easy and good way to share legitimate files. It's sad that programs and networks like Kazaa and BitTorrent were warped into a main source for piracy. Piracy is what's getting these networks shut down and rubbing out legit uses like this.

A quick note...I have a website that I was going to use for a music project, but changed my "tune" I can put it up there until the time expires. I'll have to look up the details as far as expiration, space and what-not. If you are interested and serious about this offer...let me know.

Otherwise, the BitTorrent would be the way to go.

I think you should offer up both. Now that Kipple has nicely offered to host, use both BitTorrent and a direct download. The direct download could be for those who dont know how to use BitTorrent or can't use it because of firewall restrictions.

I prefer BitTorrents, but direct downloads are good too if that's all you can get.
