I've sent this out in the last Offworld News-letter, but just in case you don't subscribe (why not?):

Here in the UK, Channel 4, one of our established terrestial TV channels, has just shown it's '100 Greatest Movies of All Time' program - the six-hour program (shown in two halves) counted down the list of greatest movies as voted for by the viewing public through Channel 4's website.

And our favourite film came in at....

...number 8! I think you'll agree that's a very respectable position especially when you consider that the competition is every other film ever made!!

Congratulations go to Ridley, the cast and crew and everyone involved in the making of THE defining Sci-Fi movie.

The top ten reads as follows:

1) Star Wars / Empire Strikes Back
2) The Godfather / Godfather II
3) The Shawshank Redemption
4) Pulp Fiction
5) Some Like it Hot
6) Gladiator
7) It's a Wonderful Life
8) Blade Runner
9) Schindler's List
10) Goodfellas

Visit the 'Channel 4' website to see the full list: http://www.channel4.com/greatest/ (site was down when I checked)

Alternatively, see the article that the BBC has written about the program: http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/entertainment/film/newsid_1676000/1676023.stm

Bye for now.

_________________

The difference between the impossible and the possible is equal to the difference between today and tomorrow.

[ This Message was edited by: Deckard BR26354 on 2001-11-25 20:00 ]
