Character development

this kind of extends the previous post on the crying during blade runner.

after seeing episode 3 (twice) it was quite a sad movie. everyone in the theatre looked sad, and even i was about to cry. its a sad story about anakin. starting with episode 1, hes shown as an innocent little 7 year old slave boy. in episode 2, he's shown as a grown up, but still maturing teen with anger issues and an arrogance problem (which we all face). and then, to top it all off, it all comes back to bite him in episode 3,

when his anger and arogance and his love for padme nearly force him to side with the emperor to save the one he loves[/spoiler]

it got me to thinking about blade runner. the story never really builds evenly for character development. you dont get a good sense of sympathy for the replicants or deckard until the end of the movie. the first sign that you see the replicants are human and have emotions too are when zhora gets killed in front of leon. you can see the sad look on his face. this is a complaint i have about how ridley directed the movie. i think he couldve done a better job showing the audience that the replicants are a sad group of "people" just looking out for eachother and trying to stay alive.

i dont know, but it just goes to show that if you dont care enough about the characters, what good is it? what do you guys think? did ridley do a good job? or after seeing AI and star wars, do you think he did the best job at the time?

I think the big diffrence between BR and all other movies you mentionned, is that BR is a dark themed movie for well educated people.
sw and ai are just hollywood flicks for massive audience, their way of develoing characters withing the story must be more easier so that everyone can understand it.
Br isn't just like that and that's why i think like a master piece of it.
