I'm looking for Blade Runner fans to help me create a Total Conversion for Max Payne. This TC will be set several years later than the movie, the game and the books.Deckard isn't going to be the hero.I promise that the Blade Runner atmosphere that makes the movie so great will be present.Blade Zone rocks.

Replicants are like any other machine. They can be a benefit or a hazard. If they're a benefit is not my problem.
I haven't got MP - what sort of spec PC do you need to do it justice?

I'm thinking of upgrading of PC - my current spec is Pentium III 500Mhz, 256MB RAM, ATI Rage 128, 17GB HD and Windows 98 - will MP run on that spec?

What can the MP engine do and how flexible is it? What type of game are we talking about - another FPS or something with a little more gameplay variety? What tools are available for level building and model creation? Can you build models such as the LAPD HQ and the Tyrell building and do them justice? Can you create and use vehicles?

The last time I tried this sort of thing was with Duke Nukem 3D which was pretty limited but is still one of my favourite games - I think there is a Blade Runner TC for that.

I'd certainly be up for some level-building and play-testing - I'm a programmer by profession, so I'm not scared of coding either ...

...I also 'met' someone on this very forum, who's excellent at 3D modelling - I'll dig the link out for his web-site when I get home...

_________________

The difference between the impossible and the possible is equal to the difference between today and tomorrow.

[ This Message was edited by: Deckard BR26354 on 2001-10-31 07:31 ]

[ This Message was edited by: Deckard BR26354 on 2001-10-31 07:34 ]

The only thing that you can be 100% sure of, is that you can't be 100% sure of anything.

Yes Deckard you can make all those things except the vehicles but you can insert them in the cut scenes.Max Payne's engine is one of the best engines of a game.I think that it is the BEST engine.I'm also looking for a 2D art creator because the cut scenes can be in a comic book style.

all your demons are heaven sent, my lost, cathartic friend
Max Paine is a new (ish) PC computer game, one of its rather nifly features being that you can use 'bullet time'. This slows everything, you, the baddies, even the buttles down, al la 'The Matrix'. This has the effect of not only looking cool, but you can pull off some rather cool stunts.

p.s. Deck, I LOVE that .gif in your sig! It kicks a$$!!!

Ashkant: Yeah - of course I'm interested - BUT - I ain't got MP yet! I left PC games behind a few years back and concentrated on console only (just got Grand Theft Auto III for my PS2 - very 'naughty' game, that)...

Have you done a TC before? What sort of game are you suggesting - is it going to be purely shoot-em-up? Do you plan to write 'custom' code or are we talking about a level/model/graphics/sound 'make-over'. What spec is your PC, 'cos if MP doesn't run that well on my PC, that could dent my enthusiasm for it - I don't really want to upgrade for the sake of one game...

Tomtrek: Thanks. Gonna do some more GIFS

I've got a PIII 450MhZ, 64MB RAM and a Voodoo 3, I can run Max Paine (demo) smoothly at low detail. And when (as I will get it) I get it, I'l be more than happy to lend a hand, as I know it comes with all the map and model editors you need.

p.s. deck, you must have a good DVD picture takeing program to get pictures that fast, unless you went through the same bit over and over.

I'll buy MP next week and take a look at what it can do - if you're suggesting it's gonna be a shoot-em-up, shouldn't we do a TC based on the incident at 'Tannhauser Gate'? The Kurt Russell character from 'Soldier' fought at Tannhauser Gate - perhaps the player could be that character, attempting to overcome the Replicant revolt...just throwing some ideas into the ring...

...BTW, Max Paine is gonna have to be something VERY SPECIAL, to beat Grand Theft Auto III on the PS2 - it's the best game I've ever played! Oh and you can get into any vehicle in that game and do what the hell you want with it - very cool.
