The writer of this book probably received an early treatment of the script. It is actually an interesting read...offering some additional "kipple" to the Blade Runner multiverse. :)

I hope to have some more information on this in the near future.

Now that I've seen it, I recognize it. I always thought it was just a picture book.

I want one of those 'fucker' t-shirts for sure too!

On the subject of fucker vs father...

i would have prefered the first half of the take with fucker and put father on the end..

i.e. when Batty says "i want more life....fucker" the "i" has much more menace than on the take where he says father

so if they had used that take and put "father" on the end, it would still have had the menace, but would have had a sort of sarcasm too

Some televised versions also have the obscenity dubbed over as "faker". Interesting, considering that an early draft had Tyrell as a replicant with the real one in stasis.

8) Roy was a rebel, and he went there to get more life and he wasn't even trying to hear a no from dr frankin stein ! The f. word .., he said it because he coudn't bear the answer he feared was coming and here was this know it all sitting on top of the world ,-roys like, I dare you ! - It was like roy was moking him as if to say ,your no father! Well, you and I know machine like quality don't last like life. .. We see a different roy ,one that has an appriation for life, humble but strong, near the end of the movie ,could he somehow have been that dove flying away redeemed, made alive, freed from his mechanical watch parts,so to speak, any thoughts on this? ...you might note that from the time he was howling like a wolf, if you'd like to begin there , some kind of change was taking place. He seemed to become less an animal (wild) and more like a thoughtful man with compassion and mercy there at the end. 8)He saved deck! ... By the way , my tv's closed caption reads "ha! kinship!" after deck spits at him while hanging on ledge before he is pulled up! This works only with the first direc. cut release on dvd far as I know . The dvd movie with it's closed cap didn't show these words! , even the new one's I bought! Why were they left out? My tv's translation works only with the old dir. cut far as I know. mmm! 8)

In terms of Roy's personality I always thought that there was an interesting tie between the "I want more life, f*cker" line said to Tyrel and his "We're not computers Sebastion. We're physical!" line to JF. Tyrel starts in with a rather dry analytical line about "jurisdiction" and Roy emotionally snaps him back to the physical reality of his situation. Great dialog throughout for sure!

Personally, this is the only thing about the FC that I do not like. The intensity of that moment makes "FUCKER" the only choice. Roy is serious, and this is made ultimately clear by this line. It is, imo, THE ultimate line of the film, and changing it sort of broke my heart in a way...

I find both options a treat for the mind. But, after much tribulation over this scene ( I'm writing a poem about it...mentioned in another thread ) I do say that "Father" offers more meaning... a sense of affinity towards Tyrell. And it is another ingredient to the religious theme sprinkled throughout the movie.

Agreed...the other term denotes a sense of intensity. But, I believe this intensity... and rage... is very effectively felt through Roy's facial drama as he is killing (Father) Tyrell.
