Was thinking about the simmilarities of Blade Runner and New Battlestar. The Human-cylons bleed, still have to eat and have the other biological imperatives, and greater physical capabilities than even these soldiers. They get called "skin jobs" by someone. Everyone uses ballistic weapons (no personal blasters in Blade Runner either), Humans created Replicants and Cylons, and both parties didn't want to be slaves so they killed humans.
Also both movie and series have Edward James Olmos too, and even then I doubt it was purely coincidence
For the ships to get across the vast distances, they use a sort of fold-space system.

I haven't read any of the books or anything regarding the back story, but I understand there was a war, lots of real animals got killed off, and because war is good for advancing technology, they probably took the battles into space earlier than those of use in the real world will.
Probably have things like 'The Battle of Mars' and 'The Battle of Luna' and that sort of thing.
Then the war ended, earth was on the way to getting cleaned up, people wanted to move off-world, androids were phased out for replicants. And new models keep getting made, with better capabilities, a few older models go haywire. Los Angeles starts up the Blade Runner division (as it started up SWAT many years before), and somewhere along the line, Deckard quits, probably because his wife leaves him and it all crumbles down, having to kill these all-too-human looking bioriods.
