How did you discover Blade Runner?

Well mine's a kind of round about way of finding it. Firstly, my school has a thing that when you're in yr 10, you study Blade Runner.<BR><BR>My sister had done this and told me it was the worst, scariest, most disgusting film she's EVER seen. As I was mildly squeemish at the time, it went down cerebrally as "bad movie".<BR><BR>Then, in yr 9 I was offered the book. Which I declined. I mean, I'd heard about some guy snapping some other guys fingers! EWWWW!<BR><BR>Then in yr 10, after mass desensitisation (hehe I watched L.A. Confidential 17 times! I really love that movie) I watched BR in class. I thought it would be terrible. Instead I loved it. I am a big Noir fan, and saw all of the elements there. I went on to read the book and love it, and during my studies, the teacher reccomended that we go onto the cityspeak forum. Nothing was really happening there, so i kept looking around. I stumbled accross Blade Zone. Having found other forums but only about the game, I thought that BZ was no different, I went into the chat, where I met Tom who corrected me on the point, and I decided to take a chance and posted my first long winded argument. does anyone know how I can convice my friends to watch BR. I've tried, they can't seem to grasp how cool it is.

I discoverd it because my parents took me to see it when I was ten. I loved Star Wars and my favorite character was Han Solo so I wanted to see any other movie that Harrison Ford was in, I saw Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981, so naturally I wanted to see Bladerunner. It helped that my mother was a big science fiction fan, so we would go see any film that was scifi.

The westwood made game Blade Runner caught my attention and thats how I discovered Blade Runner the movie. Game discovery then to movie discovery. <BR>So mostly I am a Westwood Fan and a Blade Runner fan together. Those friends of yours Neo...does not have any inspiration at all (Sorry to use this term but they are more like empty shells). Look at this movie...can you imagine how influential this movie is?

A few years ago i noticed a DVD title on the Rental store's shelf, with an interesting cover with the title BLADE RUNNER, i rented it immediately since it had Harrison Ford, i didn't understand it at all and only enjoyed it a little, i rented it a month later and loved it, and bought it straight away, and probably watched it 50+ times, i love it!

I first saw it on TV (or video, can't remember) in the late eighties, and through the whole nineties I rented it at least twice per year, then in 1999 I bought the DC on VHS, and in 2001 the DC on DVD. I didn't get a DVD player until about a week ago

*nods* I first came across it at University too - in a class on Postmoderism and Postmodernity, then later the same professor used it in his Crime Fiction class. Must have been one of his favourites

SF is finally getting the recognition it deserves - if you do the upper levels of English in NSW (Australia) in school, you can do an SF elective from next year *death tents her fingers a la Mr Burns* Excellent.

My brother bought a game for computer called Blade Runner and it was the most fun I had had in pc game for a while. Then by way of the internet I learned there was a movie so I rented it but found it boring. I was just 12-13 years old though. Unfortunately the game was thrown out while we moved. 4 years later I am reminded of Blade Runner and I set out for the game. I watch the movie again and find it more enjoyable. Now I have the game again and Im a fan of Blade Runner.

well, i first saw the blade runner game, but didnt buy it, when i was about 7 or 8 years old. i thought "blade runner, isnt that the movie with tom sellec ?". then, about 3 year ago, i saw the commercial for it on the sci-fi channel, it showing the spinners flying around the tyrell pyramids, deckard running around with a gun, it looked pretty cool, so i watched it on it's airing date, and loved it. but didnt really understand all of it, but most of it. so i rented it from a movie store, watched it more and more, and then i bought the dvd about a year ago, anbd the game a week after the dvd. been loving it ever since. so sci-fi channel was my first time.

I had the opportunity to see Blade Runner when it was released in theatres back in 1982. I was 12 yrs old and ever since it has been my favorite movie to date. Everytime I see the movie I am amazed at how ahead of its time the movie was. The effects were by far the best of any movie during that time as well as the concept. If there ever was a movie that I was inspired by it was this one!
