I just learned about it by reading Future Noir (my copy finally arrived)

So for those who have read it is it ok?

It's worth buying if you happen to pick it up at a local bookstore for a bit of change, but nothing worth going really out of your way for. I dont think I'd order from amazon or a website, just because shipping alone would be worth more than the actual book's value.

The book sequels are really good, for B-class literature standards.

There are not secondhand bookstores that have many english lit here where I live, even less sci-fi, and the books weren't translated to spanish.

Any online sources of the rest of those books for, uh... criticism purposes?

No matter how one looks at it, the books are a part of the Blade Runner multiverse, via copyright from the Philip K. Dick Trust, and license from The Blade Runner partnership.

Yeah. That means something like "QUALITY SEAL".

The BR Partnership has to live from selling something afterall, no... But GOD FORBID they would agree on finishing BR SE DVD!

Supposedly the first sequel book was written with Ridley Scott's invovlement with the intention of adapting it into a screenplay later. They even bought the sets from Judge Dredd for the sequel film, or so the rumours went anyway.

I have not enjoyed the books. I choked down the first book, and about 30 pages of the second book, set it down and never picked it up again. I have to say that without the visuals the stories just don't work.

I've read both BR2 and Replicant Night.....while the first sequel book was "Meh"....the other one was disappointing.

Sequels to BR's existing characters just don't work. Unless you have the writer (the original writer) doing them....it just falls flat. BR2 had an interesting beginning....but I grew tired of the material just before the haf way point. Jeter just tried way too hard on making this an "exact copy".

I think you should read it and judge it for yourself...then come back and tell us what you thought of the book. Hm?

The books weren't all that good for sure(2 and 3...have yet to read eye and talon). The one interesting thing i can say about them is how they tied the origional PKD DADoES and the movies into each other. Jeter was the apprentice to PKD and did copy some of his writing style, but obviously not his origionality. If looked at as "fan fiction" they are actually quite good . The main problem with them is that they do not follow how I would continue the characters, and any sequel, even if PKD or Hampton Fancher would suffer the same fate.

I've just bought Edge of Human, Replicant Night and Eye & Talon online....and am looking forward to their arrival. Are there any others? If so, could someone tell me the titles? Many thanx!

I'm going to go against the norm and say that I enjoyed the the two books that I've read. The plots weren't predictable, unlike many book sequels out there. It took facts established in the film and made you call their validity into question. Jeter used ideas from the movie but didn't chain himself down to them. In that respect I liked them.

On the negative side, I felt some of the stuff like Deckard's frequent cursing to be way out of character. Some of the relationships are also different from what I'd expect them to be, i.e. Holden hates Deckard. I would not interpret it that way, I personally pictured them as being rather friendly toward each other, at least on a professional level. Luckily, Jeter manages to pull his views of this off without being illogical.
